Controversial Yet Critical--A Topic I Can't Ignore

I've always been pro-life. But now that I'm pregnant, I'm PASSIONATE about it. I can't ignore the precious baby moving inside me...yes, I said it: baby. Not blob, not even fetus. A real, live, human baby.

I was recently made aware of a project going on called the Red Envelope Project--you can read more about it here. The basic idea behind this project, which was started by Chris Otto, is to send an empty red envelope to President Obama. Each empty envelope signifies a life that was taken because of abortion.

President Obama has made his views very clear when it comes to abortion. Taking a stand against such views almost seems like a lost cause, but GOD is in control, and He is the One who can change a man--we just need to do our part.

While I don't agree with President Obama (especially in regards to abortion), he is the leader of our nation--and in order to lead "peaceful and quiet lives", as the Bible says, I must pray for him.

Pray that his heart will be changed. Pray that he will see that children aren't a "punishment" but a precious gift.

There are a lot of other great sites that are doing their part in the fight against abortion. Abort73 is one of them. Here's a video from their site:

Lastly, here is a scripture I came across awhile back that I posted on our refrigerator:

Proverbs 24:11-12 (New Living Translation)

11 Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to die;
save them as they stagger to their death.
12 Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.”
For God understands all hearts, and he sees you.
He who guards your soul knows you knew.
He will repay all people as their actions deserve.

This scripture stands as a daily reminder that as a Christian, I have an obligation to protect innocent lives. What we do may seem insignificant--but God loves to use the powerless to show the powerful that He is still in control.

God takes life seriously--so should we.

Time to go buy some red envelopes!

  2. I heard about your blog from your sweet mother-in-law's blog.
I love this post and couldn't agree more.
If everyone would just look online at websites like pregnancy.com
you are able to see how a little baby starts to develop even at the size of a sesame seed. This is a life the moment of conception.
Several people very close to me have had miscarriages and it tore them apart. To know that so many are aborting each day just breaks my heart.
For the life of me I don't see how anyone can look at material that is available....seeing how these abortions are done and not have a ton of guilt. I'm praying for Obama. I'm praying for our nation as a whole.
I know you're excited to see little Ethan. I'm keeping you both in my prayers.
    Nice to meet you!

  3. Oh my, I was in tears reading this. I guess I will be buying me some red envelopes. As I struggle to get pregnant I get upset thinking about how women can just kill a baby that is growing inside of her. It is a BABY as soon as it is conceived. Some people say, "Well, there is some times it is good for abortion". I know this, but then again I have my own opinions about that! Thanks for this post! =)
