Hey everyone. This is Kari's husband Bob. Just wanted to update everyone. Ethan Asher Berryman was born yesterday 02/25/2009 at 9:14 am. He was 8 lbs. 12 oz. and 20 & 1/2 inches long. He's been in the NICU because he was having a few breathing issues. Today they told us his breathing is perfect except a few times when he had a pacifier.

They also let Kari try to breast feed him again today which was good. Tonite he should be off his IV and feeding tube. They assured us nothing is critical but more precautionary.

My mom has put up a few of pics on her blog at www.carolsheirloomcollection.blogspot.com. Sorry if it doesn't link automatically. I did this from my iPhone.

Thanks to everyone for their prayers and support!

Bob

Well, This Is It!

Tonight I'm being induced at 7:00! (I'm still holding out for Ethan to come on his own, though..but he's only got a few hours if he's going to do so!)

I got up this morning, ironed my hubby's shirt, packed his lunch and sent him off to work. I showered, actually took the time to put on makeup (I figure I won't be doing much of that in the next few days..or even weeks..who knows!), straightened my hair, and had my quiet time with the Lord--Oh, how I needed that!

Next on the agenda is to go get some breakfast at a bakery/coffee shop that I really like, and then hit up a few shops around town. I guess you could say that this is my last time as just a "wife" to be able to drop everything and go do something before I become a "mommy". I'm excited about it!

...But what will be even more exciting is finally holding our SON!
Last night, I went into the nursery and just stared at everything. I went through a few of the drawers, and looked through his closet trying to soak everything in. It's all quite surreal--I still feel like I should be in high school! I've dreamed of this day ever since I was a little girl, though. I've always wanted to be a wife and a mommy.

This is one of the verses I read this morning and I really liked it!
"But may all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness in you. May those who love your salvation repeatedly shout, "The LORD is great!" Psalm 40:16

LORD, you are great!
Thank You for the awesome privilege of being a wife and mommy!

**Hope to share pics with all of you as soon as possible! You might be able to see some at my mother-in-law Carol's site first, though!**

Happy Birthday!

Yesterday was my little brother's 23rd birthday! He's really not all that "little" though...all 6'5'' of him!

Anyway, we had a family get-together at my dad and mom's home to celebrate. The usual cookie cake (Drew's favorite for his b-days) was served and of course some yummy ice cream. I got a little sentimental and found some pics of him when he was younger. I don't have a scanner, so I took pics of some of the pics..haha.

Happy Birthday lil' bro--I love you!!

Yummy...needless to say, we devoured this!

Just a little guy here

Worship & Praise Sunday

Every Sunday, Brittany at Sweet Nothings hosts Worship and Praise Sunday. She has such a great site, you should check it out!

Today, my song choice is Mighty to Save by Hillsong.
*You can pause my music playlist on the right so that two songs aren't playing at once*

I LOVE this song. We sing it often at church and I get so excited everytime we do. I can't help but sing as loud as possible (bad notes and all) because God is so good--He's truly MIGHTY to save!!

My favorite line in this song, though, is when it says, "He rose and conquered the grave, Jesus conquered the grave" HOW AMAZING!? I have two precious grandpas and a friend from high school up there with the Lord--they are there because HE has conquered death, hell and the grave...and one day, I'll see them again because Christ, Who is MIGHTY to save, gave me eternal life through His precious blood and resurrection power. Thank You Jesus!!

Trying To Pass The Time...

Well, no baby yet.
= (

As my mom used to tell us kids..."To delay is to disobey"...haha.

To pass the time, I've been doing a little housework here and there, sleeping a TON, and also trying to walk as much as I can so maybe something will start happening!

If you could, please say a little prayer that I won't have to be induced. I'm not scared about that thought, I'd just much rather it all happen as naturally as possible! Thanks for all of your encouragement!

I hope to be posting pics of our son very SOON!

Gagging Daddies

Well, my doctor told me at my last appointment that if Ethan doesn't come by the due date (20th), he'll induce me on the 25th.
I can't believe I'm going to be a mom! I'm sooo excited!!

I must admit though, I've had a few moments of anxiety these past few days--just realizing I'm going to have a little life to take care of and that it's not going to be just me and hubby anymore is kinda scary. However, I'm sure once I see his sweet little face I'll be ready for whatever motherhood brings!

So, in honor of our upcoming arrival, I've decided to post
one of the funniest videos I've ever seen! Bob and I have had the "diaper talk" and I think he's willing to help in that area. We'll see--the dads in this video aren't having too much fun with it!! haha

Bring on the diapers!

Controversial Yet Critical--A Topic I Can't Ignore

I've always been pro-life. But now that I'm pregnant, I'm PASSIONATE about it. I can't ignore the precious baby moving inside me...yes, I said it: baby. Not blob, not even fetus. A real, live, human baby.

I was recently made aware of a project going on called the Red Envelope Project--you can read more about it here. The basic idea behind this project, which was started by Chris Otto, is to send an empty red envelope to President Obama. Each empty envelope signifies a life that was taken because of abortion.

President Obama has made his views very clear when it comes to abortion. Taking a stand against such views almost seems like a lost cause, but GOD is in control, and He is the One who can change a man--we just need to do our part.

While I don't agree with President Obama (especially in regards to abortion), he is the leader of our nation--and in order to lead "peaceful and quiet lives", as the Bible says, I must pray for him.

Pray that his heart will be changed. Pray that he will see that children aren't a "punishment" but a precious gift.

There are a lot of other great sites that are doing their part in the fight against abortion. Abort73 is one of them. Here's a video from their site:

Lastly, here is a scripture I came across awhile back that I posted on our refrigerator:

Proverbs 24:11-12 (New Living Translation)

11 Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to die;
save them as they stagger to their death.
12 Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.”
For God understands all hearts, and he sees you.
He who guards your soul knows you knew.
He will repay all people as their actions deserve.

This scripture stands as a daily reminder that as a Christian, I have an obligation to protect innocent lives. What we do may seem insignificant--but God loves to use the powerless to show the powerful that He is still in control.

God takes life seriously--so should we.

Time to go buy some red envelopes!

Worship and Praise Sunday

I decided to join Brittany at Sweet Nothings in sharing favorite worship and praise songs each Sunday!

The song I chose is called In Christ Alone (My Hope is Found). It's written by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend, but performed here by Adrienne Liesching and Geoff Moore. This has to be one of my all-time favorite worship songs!

**You'll need to pause the music from my Playlist on the right side of my blog before you view the video**

In Christ alone my hope is found;
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save. Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied; For ev'ry sin on Him was laid— Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine—
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow'r of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;

Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.

This song PUMPS ME UP! The whole song is amazing, but the words I made bold/enlarged are the ones that really speak to me. I'm safe in the arms of my Father...FOREVER.
He is my ALL in ALL!

A Holiday I can Love!

I used to hate this holiday. When we were single, my best friend and I would put ourselves through unreasonable torture by getting all dressed up and going out to a restaurant or coffee shop on V-day.
Why???

I guess we were hoping to find the man of our dreams that night...instead, we would end up sitting in a corner sulking over our loneliness and counting how many cute young couples there were in the building.
- This was before we were both married -
This was obviously not taken on Valentine's Day--we look much too happy!

Haha...I'm glad I can laugh about those days now! We both have found the man of our dreams!

-True Love-
Me and my husband at my best friend's wedding

I can fin
ally say that I love this holiday! As much as I love my husband and could never imagine my life without him, there is Someone greater with whom I could not live without. Valentine's Day celebrates love, and what greater love than the love of Christ!?
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
I'm so amazed by the unconditional and sacrificial love of my Father. His love is truly a reason to celebrate!

The Waiting Game

This is my first post! I must say, I'm a little nervous about it. My mother-in-law started a blog last year, and after becoming addicted to reading hers every morning, and then finding friends of hers to follow as well, I figured I would try the world of blogging. So, here goes!

Today I am 39 weeks pregnant! Wow, I never
thought it would be so hard to wait for something! I've been praying every night for the past 2 weeks that I would go into labor...so, to keep up with tradition, I'll pray again tonight--a Valentine baby would be so neat!

Tonight my husband and I celebrated our last Valentine's Day as a "normal" couple (did that sound bad?) He bought me the sweetest framed art!! Here it is. What a s
weety of a man I have = )

Here is a close up of the wording at the bottom
of the picture:

It says, "Children are a gift from the Lord" So true! We'll find out soon enough (hopefully tomorrow!) how precious children really are...
